Emergency Care for Pets

Emergencies can happen at any time. At Cochrane Animal Clinic, we are dedicated to helping with your large animal emergency 24/7. Small animal emergency services are also available during clinic hours. Please note that if your small animal requires overnight care, after hours emergency care, or a specialist, we will refer you to an emergency hospital in Calgary. Our team members are highly trained to assess your animal and give them life-saving treatment. If your animal requires after-hours surgery, radiology, or anesthesia, they may be referred to a specialist, especially if we have limited team members on call. During emergencies, we are dedicated to ensuring your animal gets the immediate care they need.

What is considered a large animal emergency?

1. Seizures or staggering
2. Bleeding from the nose or mouth
3. Difficulty breathing, coughing or gagging
4. Refusing to drink for 24 hours or more
5. Unconsciousness
6. Heat stress or heatstroke
7. Inability to urinate or pass stool
