Laser Therapy for Pets

Using lasers to relieve inflammation, speed up the healing process, and support the immune system.

Laser therapy is a form of rehabilitation used on cats, dogs, and other pets. This treatment is used to relieve pain and accelerate the healing process with a low-level laser. Studies have shown that cats and dogs respond well to laser therapy and have faster recovery times after trauma/surgery with the treatment. Laser therapy can be used with other therapies such as medications, supplements, acupuncture, and more! Be sure to ask our veterinarians if laser therapy can help your pet's condition. How does laser therapy work?

Laser therapy uses directed light waves to penetrate cells which speeds up the healing process. At the cellular level, the light replenishes energy, decreases pain, and reduces inflammation. During the procedure, most cats and dogs will relax as they begin to get some relief. It is pain-free and your loyal companion will be safe during their session.

What health conditions can be treated with laser therapy?

We use laser therapy to treat the following conditions in cats and dogs:

  1. Hair loss
  2. Osteoarthritis
  3. Kidney stones
  4. Open wounds
  5. Allergies
  6. Cellulitis
  7. Hip dysplasia
  8. Tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries

When is laser therapy not recommended for pets?

It is unsafe for cats and dogs to get laser therapy when they are pregnant or have cancer/tumours. Using a laser over a tumour site can accelerate its growth. If the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, laser therapy should not be used as it may target those cells. This treatment can also be unsafe for epileptic patients or for use over the thyroid gland or the eyes.
